SYMPTOMS

The following text is displayed on the splash screen when you start Microsoft Project, or the text is displayed in the About Microsoft Project dialog box when you click About Microsoft Project on the Help menu:

Unpublished Work

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if the following conditions are true:
  • A beta version of Microsoft Project was previously installed on the computer.
  • A bitmap that contains the "Unpublished Work" text is cached in the registry. This bitmap is a component of the beta version of Microsoft Project.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, remove the registry key that contains the cached bitmap entry. To do so, follow these steps.

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\MS Project\UserInfo

  3. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
  4. Click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the deletion.
  5. Quit Registry Editor.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
