Money: How to Change the Type of an Investment Account (325936)

Part 1: Export the Account That You Want to Change

1. On the File menu, click Export.
2. Click Loose QIF, and then click OK.
3. In the File name box, type a name for the export file, and then click OK.
4. Click Investment, and then click OK.
5. In the Account List, click the investment account that you want to export, and then click Continue.
6. When the export process is complete, click OK.
7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 for each investment account whose type you want to change.

Part 2: Delete the Investment That You Exported

1. On the Investing menu on the Money Home Page, click Portfolio.
2. In the left pane, click Work with investments, and then click Delete an investment.
3. In the list of accounts, click the investment account that you want to change, and then click OK.
4. Repeat step 3 to delete all the investment accounts that you want to change.

Part 3: Import the Investment

1. On the File menu on the Money Home Page, click Import.
2. In the list of files, click the file that you exported in part 1, and then click Import.
3. Match the QIF file with the appropriate account, and then click OK.
   
   NOTE: When you are prompted to create the investment, make sure to create it as Stock.
4. When the import process is complete, click OK.
