SYMPTOMS
A client may receive an access violation error message when the client runs an Embedded SQL (ESQL) statement by following these steps:
- The client runs a SELECT WITH (UPDLOCK ROWLOCK) statement.
- The LOCK_TIMEOUT period is set to a value other than infinite.
- After the client runs the query, and before the client retrieves the records, the client checks for the following error:
LOCK TIMEOUT PERIOD EXCEEDED (1222)
The client loops until it exceeds the LOCK_TIMEOUT period and is deemed successful.
When two users try to run the ESQL/C application simultaneously, the user who triggers SQL Server error 1222 receives an access violation error message.
