This article was previously published under Q325562 SYMPTOMSWhen you send a meeting request in iCalendar format from a
Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3) account in Microsoft Outlook to a user on a
Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server computer, the Content-Type:text/calendar
information is not recognized, and it is added as text to the body of the
message. For example, when the recipient opens the message in Outlook, text
that is similar to the following text is added to the body of the
message:
BEGIN:VCALENDAR PRODID:-//Microsoft Corporation//Outlook
10.0 MIMEDIR//EN VERSION:2.0 METHOD:REQUEST BEGIN:VEVENT This problem does
not occur when you send the meeting request to a user on an Exchange Server
computer.CAUSEThis problem may occur if the meeting request is sent
through the Internet Mail Service on the Exchange Server computer to the
Exchange 2000 computer, and the Internet Mail Service is configured to route
only incoming messages. Exchange Server does not recognize or understand the
iCalendar format. As a result, the message is not processed correctly, and the
Content-Type:text/calendar information is added as text to the body of the
message.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, configure the Internet Mail Service
to re-route messages through an Exchange 2000 computer.
