OL2000: Attachment Is Compressed to a .zip File Automatically in Outlook (325346)

SYMPTOMS

When you send a message with an attachment in Outlook, the attachment may be compressed to a .zip file automatically.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if you enabled the "Quick View Plus Outlook AutoZip Extension" add-in, which is included in Quick View Plus. (Quick View Plus is a product of Jasc Software.)

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Disable the "Quick View Plus Outlook AutoZip Extension" Add-In

  1. Start Outlook.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  3. Click the Other tab, click Advanced Options, and then click Add-In Manager.
  4. Click to clear the Quick View Plus Outlook AutoZip Extension check box, and then click OK three times.

Method 2: Prevent the Add-In from Compressing Attachments

  1. In the notification area at the far right of the taskbar, right-click Quick View Plus, and then click Configure Quick View Plus.
  2. Click the Applications tab, click Microsoft Outlook, and then click Properties.
  3. On the Options tab, click to clear the Compress attachments larger than 100 KB in size check box.
  4. Click OK.
