SUMMARY
If you disconnect the network connection, the Pocket PC
Inbox may not disconnect from the mail service. For example, if the Pocket PC
is connected to an IMAP server, and the network cable is disconnected, the
Inbox status displays "disconnecting..." but cannot disconnect. As a result,
the
Deleted Items folder may not be emptied.
To disconnect from an IMAP4
or POP3 e-mail service, tap
Disconnecton the
Services menu. This command appears only when the Pocket PC is connected
to an e-mail service. Optionally, use the Pocket PC
Inbox connect/disconnect button at the bottom of the screen. If the Pocket PC device is
connected, the button disconnects from the e-mail server. If the Pocket PC is
not connected, the Pocket PC device connects to the e-mail service.
To configure the
Deleted Items folder to empty automatically whenever a connection is made or
disconnected, follow these steps:
- Open the Inbox.
- On the Tools menu, tap Options.
- On the Message tab, tap the Empty Deleted Items list.
- Tap On connect/disconnect, and then tap OK.
After you select this option, whenever the Pocket PC device
connects or disconnects, the
Deleted Items folder (on the Pocket PC) is emptied. Additionally, the next time that
a connection is made, the messages are also deleted from the server.
When you disconnect, the
Deleted Items folder empties, but the messages are not deleted from the server.
If you want to both empty the folder and delete the messages from the mail
server, on the
Services menu, click
Connect. (You can also tap
Send/Receive because it connects if you are not already connected.)
