PPT2001: Problems When You View a Slide Show on a System with a Secondary Monitor (325190)

SYMPTOMS

When you view a slide show on a system that includes a secondary monitor, such as a slide projector, and then you remove the secondary monitor, you may experience one or both of the following behaviors:
  • The slide show does not start.
  • You cannot quit PowerPoint.
These symptoms may be intermittent.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur under the following scenario:
  1. You connect a secondary monitor, such as a slide projector.
  2. You view a slide show on the secondary monitor and then save the presentation.
  3. You shut down the computer and then disconnect the secondary monitor.
  4. You restart the computer and then try to view the slide show.
This behavior may occur if there is a problem with the PowerPoint Settings (9) file.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, move the following file into the Trash:

Macintosh HD:System Folder:Preferences:Microsoft:PowerPoint Settings (9)
