Session Summary



This session will explain the different types of indexing mechanisms in SQL Server 2000. It will cover how to choose an effective index for a query, and it will discuss indexing techniques like covering indexes, index intersection, and index join. It will explain the role of statistics in using indexes effectively, as well as using the Index Tuning Wizard for maintaining proper indexes on the database

This is a Level 200 session that was recorded July 6, 2001 and presented by Sajal Dam. Sajal Dam is an Application Development Consultant and has been working at Microsoft for three years. He works with various Microsoft Premier customers to help tune their Web and WinDNA applications for performance and scalability, and he conducts SQL Server performance tuning workshops. His strengths include optimizing the performance of front-end Web server to back-end SQL Server.
