This article was previously published under Q324937 SYMPTOMS
Your permissions in a folder that is marked as being available offline may be different depending on whether you are working online or offline. When you are working offline, you can create new files in a folder in which you have no permissions when you are working online. When you synchronize with the network, you receive an "Access denied" error message.
CAUSE
Client Side Caching (CSC) does not store folder permissions in the local cache. Therefore, there are no restrictions on what you can do in a folder while you are working offline. The folder permissions are evaluated and applied when you synchronize the local cache with the network.
STATUSThis behavior is by design.MORE INFORMATION
When you click Folder Options on the Tools menu, click Offline Files, and then click View files, you may see only a local copy of your files in the Synchronization box. This is one symptom of the issue that is described in this article.
