Sierra Entertainment Half-Life Program Causes an Error Message in Windows XP (324846)

SYMPTOMS

When you are playing the Sierra Entertainment Half-Life program, you may receive the following error message:

Half-Life has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

If the error message is still displayed and you want to see the data that the error report contains, click the click here link at the bottom of the message box. You then see error signature information that may be similar to:

   App name  App version  Module name  Module version  Offset
   ------------------------------------------------------------
   hl.exe    1.1.0.9      hl.exe       1.1.0.9         01512c53

CAUSE

This issue may occur if Half-Life is installed on your computer. Versions of this program are not completely compatible with the Microsoft software that is listed at the beginning of this article.
