PRB: Application Center 2000 Replicates NLB Equal Load Weight Setting as Load Weight 50 (324741)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Application Center 2000

This article was previously published under Q324741

SYMPTOMS

When you use port rules in Network Load Balancing, Application Center does not synchronize the Load Weight parameter and sets this parameter to the default value of 50.

CAUSE

Load weights are configured on a per-server basis and therefore are not synchronized across all the members in an Application Center cluster.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you must configure the load weight on each server manually. Typically, load-balanced network traffic for the associated port rule is distributed across all cluster members equally if each cluster member retains the default value of 50 for the Load Weight parameter.

MORE INFORMATION

This parameter specifies the relative load-balanced network traffic that a cluster member handles for the associated port rule. Use the following formula to compute the percentage of load-balanced network traffic for a port rule:
100 x (port rule's Load Weight for node)/(sum of port rule's Load Weights for all nodes in cluster)

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
