You receive a "Setup error" error message when you try to install SharePoint Team Services for Microsoft Project Server (324652)

This article was previously published under Q324652 SYMPTOMS When you try to install SharePoint Team Services from
Microsoft for Microsoft Project Server, you may receive an error message
similar to the following: SharePoint Configuration
Wizard
Setup error:
The subweb
MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments does not contain the correct schema for
Microsoft Project Server.
To correct the schema, delete this subweb,
and run the SharePoint Configuration Wizard again. If the subweb already
contains data, you may want to move the data to a new subweb first, and then
delete this subweb CAUSE This behavior may be caused by either of the following
conditions:
RESOLUTION To resolve this behavior, use the appropriate method for
your situation. Resolution for Cause 1 To remove the subweb folder in IIS, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to
Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and
then click Internet Service Manager.
- Expand the Web site that you chose to provision SharePoint
Team Services to during the SharePoint Configuration Wizard. By default, this
is Default Web site.
- Right-click
MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments, and then click
Delete.
- When you are prompted to confirm deletion of the folder,
click Yes.
- Quit Internet Service Manager.
- Start the SharePoint Configuration Wizard from the
Microsoft Project Server 2002 disc.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to provision additional
SharePoint Team Services Web sites for Microsoft Project Server.
- When the SharePoint Configuration Wizard completes, note
the SharePoint Server information.
- Start Microsoft Project Web Access.
- Click Admin, click Manage
SharePoint Team Services, and the click Add
Server.
- In the appropriate boxes, type the information that you
noted in step 8, and then click Save Changes.
Resolution for Cause 2 To resolve this problem, use either of the following methods. Method 1: Use MetaEdit Tool- Download and install the MetaEdit tool, as explained in the
following Knowledge Base article:
301386 How to install MetaEdit 2.2 on Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000
- Click Start, point to
Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and
then click MetaEdit.
- On the Edit menu, click
Find.
- In the Find what box, type
MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments, and then click
OK.
- Right-click
MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments, and then click Delete.
- Click Yes, and then click
Exit on the Metabase menu.
- Start the SharePoint Configuration Wizard from the
Microsoft Project Server 2002 disc.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to provision additional
SharePoint Team Services Web sites for Microsoft Project Server.
NOTE: You may receive the following warning message:
Warning: Failed to create a database role.
Click OK on each warning message. The database role
was previously created during your SharePoint installation in the SharePoint
database. - When the SharePoint Configuration Wizard completes, note
the SharePoint Server information.
- Start Microsoft Project Web Access.
- Click Admin, click Manage
SharePoint Team Services, and the click Add
Server.
- In the appropriate boxes, type the information that you
noted in step 9, and then click Save Changes.
Method 2: Use Internet Service Manager- Click Start, and then click
Run.
- In the Open box, type
http://ServerName where
ServerName is the name of the server for your
SharePoint based Web site, and then click OK.
- Click Site Settings.
- Click Create a Subweb.
- In the Name box, type
MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments.
NOTE: If this folder already exists, follow the steps in "Method 1:
Use MetaEdit Tool". - Click Submit.
- Click Start, point to
Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and
then click Internet Service Manager.
- Expand the Web site you chose to provision SharePoint Team
Services to during the SharePoint Configuration Wizard. By default, this is
Default Web site.
- Right-click
MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments, and then click
Delete.
- When you are prompted to confirm deletion of the folder,
click Yes.
- Quit Internet Service Manager.
- Start the SharePoint Configuration Wizard from the
Microsoft Project Server 2002 disc.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to provision additional
SharePoint Team Services Web sites for Microsoft Project Server. Ignore the
following error message, and then click OK:
SharePoint Configuration Wizard Setup Error:
Default
Web Site has not been configured properly for Project Server for unknown
reasons.
Setup will restore SharePoint to its original
state.
You can also run the setup program again to configure the
existing SharePoint Server. - When the SharePoint Configuration Wizard completes, note
the SharePoint Server information.
- Start Microsoft Project Web Access.
- Click Admin, click Manage
SharePoint Team Services, and the click Add
Server.
- In the appropriate boxes, type the information that you
noted in step 14, and then click Save Changes.
