Session Summary



In this session, we will discuss the procedures to back up an SMS 2.0 site. We will also talk about the requirements to perform a site recovery. This session will also introduce new tools to assist in the backup and recovery of SMS 2.0 sites and hierarchies.

This is a Level 300 session that was recorded July 6, 2000 and presented by Rob Wickham. After being in the military, Rob joined Microsoft in 1993 in PSS supporting LANMan and Win NT 3.1. After having been the tech-lead on Hermes (SMS 1.0), Rob joined the CPR Escalation Team to support SMS 1.0 and 1.1 releases. In Jan 1995, Rob took a position in the SMS product group as a Program Manager and took over the primary role of maintaining PSS relationships and product maintenance (QFE, Service Packs) Rob also administered the beta program for SMS 1.2. Currently Rob covers several SMS 2.0 feature areas including Resource Kit, Upgrade and interoperability with SMS 1.2, Site Recovery, and aspects of post-deployment use of the SMS 2.0 release.
