FIX: Windows Control That Is Hosted in Microsoft Internet Explorer Leaks Unmanaged Resources (324547)

SYMPTOMS

When a Microsoft Windows control library is hosted in Microsoft Internet Explorer, one or more of the following problems may occur:
  • Internet Explorer quits unexpectedly (crashes).
  • Your computer exhibits high CPU usage.
  • A memory leak occurs.
  • A leak occurs in other unmanaged resources, such as Microsoft Graphics Device Interface (GDI) handles.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next .NET Framework service pack that contains this hotfix.
