Message Queuing installation on Windows 2000 fails against a Windows Server 2003 domain controller (324339)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Message Queuing 2.0

This article was previously published under Q324339

SYMPTOMS

When you install a Microsoft Message Queuing 2.0 client with Microsoft Windows 2000, the installation fails.

CAUSE

The Microsoft Message Queuing 2.0 Setup program assumes that the domain controller creates the Microsoft Message Queuing object with the GUID that is provided by the setup code itself. This is no longer valid for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 domain controllers.

This fix makes the Windows 2000 code compatible with the Windows Server 2003 code. This fix permits the code to run when the option of adding objects with predefined GUIDs is disabled. The fix changes the order of PROPIDs that are supplied by the Microsoft Message Queuing 2.0 setup code. The server side can now identify whether it is called by the old setup or by the new Microsoft Message Queuing 2.0 setup. For new setups, the server side does not try to use the "Add-GUID" functionality.
