This article was previously published under Q324251 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Visio, when you print your drawing, view it in print preview, or save it as a Web page and then view it in your browser, some shapes may not appear.
CAUSE
This behavior may occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:
- The shapes are configured as nonprinting shapes.
- The layer that contains the shapes is configured as a nonprinting layer.
- The shapes are located outside the Visio drawing page.
RESOLUTION
To troubleshoot and resolve this behavior, follow these steps:
- Start Visio, and then open your drawing.
- Select the shapes that are missing.
NOTE: If a shape that is missing is grouped, ungroup the shape. To ungroup a shape, right-click it, point to Shape, and then click Ungroup. - Right-click the selection, point to Format, and then click Behavior.
- Under Miscellaneous, click to clear the Non-printing shape check box, and then click OK.
NOTE: If the Non-printing shape check box is selected, Visio displays the shape on the drawing page but does not print the shape if you print the drawing. - If you previously ungrouped the shape in step 2, regroup the shape. To group a shape, select the shapes that you want to group, right-click the selection, point to Shape, and then click Group.
- On the View menu, click Layer Properties.
Verify that the layer that contains the shapes that you want to print is selected for printing. If a layer is selected for printing, a check mark appears under Print for that layer. If the layer is not selected for printing, click to put a check mark under Print for that layer, and then click OK.
NOTE: Your drawing may or may not use layers.
- On the View menu, point to Zoom, and then click Zoom.
- Click Percentage, type 20 in the box next to it, and then click OK.
- Press CTRL+A to select all the shapes in your drawing, and then view the shapes in your drawing. Determine whether any shapes are located outside the drawing page. Move any shapes that are located outside the drawing page to the drawing page.
- On the View menu, point to Zoom, and then click Zoom.
- Click Percentage, click 100% (Actual size), and then click OK.
