WINUP-Critical Update Notification from Windows Update Not Functioning (324200)

SYMPTOMS

If you are running Critical Update Notification, you are not notified of the Critical Updates available on the Windows Update Web site.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Microsoft does not support Critical Update Notification since the release of Automatic Update version 2.2.

RESOLUTION

If you want to receive Critical Update Notification, install Windows 2000 SP3 or later. To do so, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks//default.asp

If you do not want to receive notifications of critical updates, the installation of Windows 2000 SP3 removes Critical Update Notifier from your computer. To turn off the new Automatic Update component of Windows 2000 SP3, use the Automatic Update tool in Control Panel.
