SYMPTOMS

With an Inbox Mail service connected, when you receive a new message, you may experience the following symptoms:
  • The Inbox bubble notification does not appear.
  • The device does not play a sound to signal you that a new message has been received.

CAUSE

The Inbox displays notifications only under the following circumstances:
  • If the Inbox window does not appear on the screen.
  • If the device is not locally connected through ActiveSync (USB, serial or infrared connection).

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

Mail notifications are intended to alert the user only when the device is not locally connected to a desktop PC, and the Inbox program is running in the background.

To turn on sound notification when a new message is received, follow these steps:
  1. Tap the Start menu, tap Settings.
  2. On the Personal tab, tap the Sounds & Notifications icon.
  3. On the Notifications tab, in the Select an event list, select Inbox: New e-mail message.
When you are locally connected, use the desktop mail client's features for notification of new incoming e-mail messages.
