SYMPTOMS

When you try to quit a Microsoft Office v. X program, such asMicrosoft Word X for Mac, Microsoft Entourage X for Mac, Microsoft Excel X for Mac, or Microsoft PowerPoint X for Mac, the program may stop responding for about a minute before it quits.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you use Norton Personal Firewall for Mac OS X in Stealth mode.

Note By default, Stealth mode is enabled when you install Norton Personal Firewall for Mac OS X.

To resolve this issue, visit the following Symantec Web site to obtain either an updated version of Norton Personal Firewall 2.0 for Mac OS X or to receive help with the reconfiguration of Norton Personal Firewall 2.0 for Mac OS X.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, disable Stealth mode. To do this, follow these steps: Warning This workaround may make your computer or your network more vulnerable to attack by malicious users or by malicious software such as viruses. We do not recommend this workaround but are providing this information so that you can implement this workaround at your own discretion. Use this workaround at your own risk.

On the Go menu, click Applications.
Click Norton Solutions, and then click Norton Personal Firewall.
On the Personal Firewall menu, click Preferences.
Click the Advanced tab.
Click to clear the Enable Stealth mode check box, and then click Save.
Quit Norton Personal Firewall.
