Netware Client Prevents Local Group Policy from Being Applied When You Log On to a Windows NT 4.0-Based Domain (324124)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional
This article was previously published under Q324124 SYMPTOMS
If you use Novell Netware Client version 4.83, you can log on to Netware environments and local computers that are running Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Windows 2000, and Windows XP. Additionally, you can log on to Windows NT 4.0-based domains and Windows 2000-based domains.
When you use a computer that is running Windows XP Professional that has Netware Client version 4.83 installed, if you log on by using a user account from Windows NT 4.0, both the Windows NT 4.0 System Policy settings and the Windows XP local Group Policy settings are applied for the computer; however, your user settings are not applied. If you log on locally to a computer that is running Windows XP or if you log on to a Windows 2000-based domain, you do not experience the same behavior and the computer works as expected.
