SYMPTOMS

When you are using DHTML to create tables in Internet Explorer, the CPU utilization may increase to 100 percent when you add a row or cell to a table. As you add more and more rows or cells to the table, Internet Explorer may cause the time that the CPU remains at 100 percent utilization to increase exponentially. When this symptoms occurs, Internet Explorer may appear to stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

When you are adding cells to the end of the table, Internet Explorer issues notifications to every cell in every row of the whole table. Depending on the size of the table, the amount of processor time that is needed to complete the notifications would increase.
