PRB: XLANG Schedules Fail After Failover When You View COM+ Application Properties (323572)

SYMPTOMS

When you view the properties of any COM+ application from the Component Services Microsoft Management Console (MMC) on the inactive node of a BizTalk cluster, the XLANG schedules may fail after failover. This is specific only to any COM+ application that has an activation type of server application.

CAUSE

When you view COM+ application properties on any COM+ server application, a copy of the XLANG scheduler engine starts. When this occurs, BizTalk Server failover does not behave as expected because an instance of the XLANG scheduler is running.

RESOLUTION

Make sure to shut down the copy of the XLANG Scheduler engine that is started by the component service when you finish viewing the COM+ application properties on the inactive node. When you view the properties in this scenario, follow these steps:
  1. View the properties on the COM+ server application.
  2. Click to select the XLANG scheduler COM+ application in the Component Service MMC.
  3. Right-click the XLANG scheduler COM+ application, and then click Shut Down.
  4. Close the Component Services MMC.
