INTRODUCTION

Microsoft COM Transaction Integrator (COMTI) was originally written to use the HWSIMSO0 exit routine when it connects through the Open Transaction Management Architecture (OTMA) (or IMS Connect) through TCP/IP to IMS regions on a mainframe. The ability to use the newer HWSIMSO1 exit routine was added to COMT in Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1).

This feature is available in the latest service pack for Host Integration Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

MORE INFORMATION

Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

After you install Host Integration Server 2000 SP1 or later, add the following registry entry to cause COMTI to format the TCP/IP information to comply with the new HWSIMSO1 exit routine. You must also change the Remote Environment configuration by using the COMTI Manager.

Follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following key in the registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Cedar\Defaults

  3. Right-click Defaults, point to New, and then click Key.
  4. Name the key UseHWSIMSO1.
  5. In the right pane, right-click the (Default) item, and then click Modify.
  6. Type Activate.
  7. Click OK, and then close Registry Editor.

Note The "(Default)" value can be anything. As long as a value exists, the change will take affect.
You must also configure the ITOC Exit name correctly in the COMTI Manager. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open the COMTI Manager, and then open the properties of the OTMA Remote Environment.
  2. On the TCP/IP tab, locate the entry for the ITOC Exit name. By default, the ITOC Exit name for the original HWSIMSO0 Exit is *IRMREQ*. For the newer HWSIMSO1 Exit, the default ITOC Exit name is *IRMRE1*.

Note The asterisks are a part of the name.

If the mainframe has been configured for a name that is different from the default ITOC Exit name, you must enter that name.
