PIPELINING Is Not Supported by Pocket Inbox (323414)

SYMPTOMS

When you connect to an SMTP server and try to use PIPELINING, you cannot send e-mail messages.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the SMTP transport in Pocket PC 2002 does not support PIPELINING.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

PIPELINING is a mechanism that is described in RFC2920 that makes it possible to put multiple SMTP commands in one network packet to improve network performance. The client and the server typically agree on whether to use PIPELINING during negotiation when the connection is established. Some servers might not respect clients that do not support PIPELINING, and these server always try to use this feature. Microsoft Pocket Inbox cannot send e-mail messages by using these servers.
