SYMPTOMS

When you use a customized Japanese thesaurus file with SharePoint Portal Server 2001, search results are incorrect and one of the following event ID messages may be logged in the server Application event log:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: MssCi
Event Category: None
Event ID: 4153
Description:
Thesaurus file C:\Program Files\SharePoint Portal Server\Data \FTData\SharePointPortalServer\Config\Tsjpn.xml could not be read. Error -2148270095 occurs in Line 0.

-or-

Event Type: Error
Event Source: MssCi
Event Category: None
Event ID: 4153
Description:
Could not load thesaurus file C:\Program Files\SharePoint Portal Server\Data\FTData\SharePointPortalServer\Config\Tsjpn.xml. Error: 3221225477. Line 0 is incorrectly formed. Edit file to correct.
NOTE: The Tsjpn.xml file that appears in these event ID messages is the Japanese thesaurus file that is used by SharePoint Portal Server. If you are using the English thesaurus file and this same event ID message is logged, the Tsenu.xml file appears.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the strings in a custom Japanese thesaurus file are not parsed correctly. As a result, the thesaurus file cannot be loaded.

NOTE: This problem may occur more frequently on a computer that has two or more CPUs and a large customized thesaurus file.
