Cannot Use Sony VAIO PCG-C1MRX Internal Camera with Windows Messenger After You Apply Q316397 (323322)

SYMPTOMS

After you apply the hotfix from the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article, you may not be able to use your internal video camera on your Sony VAIO PCG-C1MRX computer with Windows Messenger:

316397 Windows XP Real-Time Communication Client Support for Network Address Translation

CAUSE

This problem may occur because the Dxmrtp.dll file that is included in Windows Messenger ignores an internal video camera. Because of this, Windows messenger cannot use an internal video camera for its video input source.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Windows XP service pack that contains this hotfix.
