Memory Leak in WDM Provider's ExecMethodAsync Method in Windows XP and Windows 2000 (323289)

SYMPTOMS

There is a small memory leak in the Windows Driver Model (WDM) provider's ExecMethodAsync method that you can see by monitoring the "Private Bytes" performance counter for the provider's process. In Windows 2000, the WDM provider is loaded in the Winmgmt.exe process. Under Windows XP, the WDM provider is loaded in the Wmiprvse.exe process. You can also view this performance counter by monitoring the virtual memory size of the process by using Windows Task Manager.

CAUSE

The WDM provider's ExecMethodAsync method does not release an IWbemClassObject interface pointer.
