PRB: Internet Explorer 5.5 Exception When You Load JPEG on 2 BPP Display (323286)

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 for Windows CE and a 2 bits-per-pixel (BPP) display driver to display a JPEG, an exception occurs.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Internet Explorer 5.5 does not support 2 BPP display drivers.

RESOLUTION

If your platform design requires this version of Internet Explorer, the display driver must report one of the following color depths: 1, 4, 8, 16, 24, or 32.

If your display hardware uses a different color depth, your display driver must translate the format internally.
