This article describes the recommended installation order for Microsoft Windows 2000 MultiLanguage Version, associated service packs, and hotfixes.
When you set up a Windows 2000 MultiLanguage Version-based computer with service packs, hotfixes, and Microsoft Internet Explorer, the order in which you install Microsoft components is very important. The order ensures that the latest versions of all the files are retained.
Microsoft recommends that you install the components in the following order. NOTE: Make sure that the language is set to English before you install these components, and always use the U.S. version of all service packs and hotfixes.
- Windows 2000 operating system (English).
- Multilingual User Interface Pack (Muisetup.exe) with the languages that you want. This is also CD 1 from Windows 2000 MultiLanguage Version.
You must install Multilingual User Interface Pack before you any install any other fixes and before you install the Multilingual Menus and Dialogs for Internet Explorer. - Most recent Windows 2000 Service Pack.
This updates both the Windows 2000 files and the Multilingual User Interface Pack files. - Hotfixes for Windows 2000.
Hotfixes contain the most recent post-service pack updates. - Internet Explorer.
You must install Internet Explorer after all operating system components have been updated. - Multilingual Menus and Dialogs for Internet Explorer.
- Hotfixes for Internet Explorer.
These hotfixes update the files for Internet Explorer and for Multilingual Menus and Dialogs.
