When you run Microsoft Baseline Security Advisor on a server that is running SharePoint Portal Server, if you turn off the ASPParentPaths option in the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) configuration settings, the Inheritance Overrides dialog box may appear. This article describes what to do when this dialog box appears.

MORE INFORMATION

If you run Microsoft Baseline Security Advisor on a server that is running SharePoint Portal Server, the following two steps appear in the IIS Configuration section:
  1. Running the IIS Lockdown Tool
  2. Disabling the ASPParentPaths option
If you follow these steps and you turn off the ASPParentPaths option, the Inheritance Overrides dialog box may appear. This dialog box prompts you to select any of the following child nodes that you want to inherit the Script Maps property:
  • SharePoint Portal Server
  • Public
  • Nodes that indicate the paths for any workspaces that have been configured in SharePoint Portal Server
IMPORTANT: Microsoft recommends that you do not select any child nodes that have been created for SharePoint Portal Server that appear in this dialog box. If you do so, you may adversely affect the operation of any workspaces that are configured on your server.
