This article was previously published under Q323119 SYMPTOMS When you try to use the spelling checker in Microsoft Word
2000 to check any form of Spanish text, you may receive an error message that
is similar to the following: Word has caused an invalid
page fault in module Mssp3es.dll. CAUSE This problem may occur because the Microsoft Office 2000
Spanish Proofing Tool (the MSSP3ES.dll file) only supports the checking of
traditional Spanish. Word uses MSSP3ES.dll to check all forms of Spanish, even
though the file only contains dictionary information to correctly check
traditional Spanish. WORKAROUND To work around this problem, set the text language to Spanish (Traditional Sort), and then turn off the Detect Language option. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, point to Language, and then click Set Language.
- In the list of languages, click Spanish (Traditional Sort).
- Click to clear the Detect Language check box, and then click OK.
- When you are prompted, restart all Office programs that are
running.
