Error Message: Your Display Name Could Not Be Changed (323050)

If you try to change your display name on the Instant Messenger Settings page, you may receive the following error message:
Your display name could not be changed. Please try again later.
WORKAROUND
If you create a Passport account with a non-Passport e-mail address, Passport sends an e-mail to the address specified. You must read the e-mail and then click the embedded link. This opens the browser and navigates to a page that will validate the e-mail address that you used to create the Passport. After this procedure is completed, you can then sign in to Instant Messenger and change your Display Name setting by following the steps outlined in the "More Information" section of this article.
