Many Secure Socket Layer Connections May Slow Down Performance (323015)

SYMPTOMS

On a server that is servicing many Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connections, performance may be slowed down significantly.

CAUSE

If there are many SSL connections, a significant percentage of CPU time is spent locating the SSL contexts.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article.
