BUG: Pocket PC 2002: Contact Does Not Beam (323011)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to beam a contact from the detailed view (that is, Summary or Notes) of the contact, you may receive the following error message on the receiving device:
Unable to transfer at this time

RESOLUTION

  1. Close the contact to return to the list of contacts.
  2. Tap and hold a specific contact line.
  3. Tap Beam Contact.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Tap Start, and then tap Contacts.
  2. Tap a contact to view the detailed information for the contact.
  3. Tap Tools, and then tap Beam Contact.
  4. If the receiving device is a Pocket PC 2000 device, on that device, tap Start, tap Programs, and then tap Infrared Receive.
  5. Align the two Pocket PCs. Note that the eventual status is Failed, or the contact view closes automatically. The contact is not successfully received.
