PPT2000: PowerPoint Stops Responding When You Try to Save or Move a Presentation with 3-D objects (322958)

SYMPTOMS

When you create a presentation with a custom slide size of 56 inches by 36 inches, and you include several objects on the slide, and you include several objects on the slide (especially three-dimensional [3-D] objects), PowerPoint 2000 may stop responding (hang) when you try to move the 3-D object with your pointer or try to save the presentation.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because PowerPoint becomes stuck in an infinite loop when it tries to render a 3-D object. This problem occurs only if your presentation contains both of the following:
  • Multiple objects that have a large layout size.

    -and-

  • 3-D objects on the custom slide.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The English version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP-3).
