Visio2002: Solution-Specific Menus, Toolbars, or Automated Features Are Missing When You Create a New Drawing (322859)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Visio 2002 Standard
- Microsoft Visio 2002 Professional
This article was previously published under Q322859 SYMPTOMS
When you create a new drawing in Microsoft Visio, the menus, toolbars, or automated features that are specific to that solution type may be missing.
For example, when you create a new organization chart, the Organization Chart command does not appear on the menu bar as expected.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if either of the following conditions is true:
- You create the new drawing by using a template that is not appropriate for that drawing.
-or- - You open a stencil independently of the solution that it is associated with.
Menus, toolbars, and other features that are specific to the solution are available only when you open the template or a drawing that is created from the template.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, do one of the following:
- If Visio is already running, point to New on the File menu, point to the type of drawing that you want to create, and then click the template that you want.
-or- - If Visio is not running, start Visio, click the type of drawing that you want to create under Category, and then click the template that you want to use under Template.
Visio opens the template and displays the solution-specific menus and toolbars in the program window.
