SYMPTOMS

If you try to print from a Windows 2000-based Terminal Services server client to a custom local port that is redirected to a file you receive the following error message:
Destination path not found.

CAUSE

The print spooler runs in the System context and has no access to the drive mappings in a user's session. When you print to a local port, the processing occurs on the server.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, click Print to File as the port. When you print to a file, the print processing occurs on the client.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
