Hypertext Markup Language Encoding Is Lost When You Create E-Mail Messages by Using Collaboration Data Objects (322848)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q322848 SYMPTOMS
When you use Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) by means of Collaboration Data Objects for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server (CDOEX) and the cdoSendUsingExchange property to create and send e-mail messages outside your organization, Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) encoding may be lost.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because the Provide message body as plain text setting on the Message Format tab of the Internet Message Formats policy in Global Settings in Exchange System Manager is turned on by default.
RESOLUTION
To retain HTML encoding, click either of the following settings instead of the Provide message body as plain text setting:
- Provide message body as HTML
- Both
