Printing to a Compaq 1400P Printer May Cause an Error Message in Windows XP (322736)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to print to a Compaq 1400P printer, you may receive an error message that is similar to:
spoolsv.exe has caused and error and must be closed. We apologize for the inconvenience.
If the error message is still displayed and if you want to see the data that the error report contains, click the click here link at the bottom of the message box. You then see error signature information that may be similar to:

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Compaq driver for the 1400P printer is not completely compatible with Windows XP.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, download the latest printer driver from Compaq.

As of May 8, 2002, the latest Compaq driver for the 1400P printer is version 1.0. This version corrects problems using the Compaq 1400P printer on Windows XP.
