SUMMARY

The Conference Management Service (CMS) component named the Exchange Conference Locator service (Xconfloc.exe) is not designed to function across Microsoft Windows 2000 sites and conferencing zones. Therefore, any conference resources that are created in the CMS must reside in the same Windows 2000 site and conferencing zone. These resources, however, may be located on the same computer as the CMS or another Exchange 2000 server.

MORE INFORMATION

The CMS is deployed into a conferencing zone, which maintains the same boundaries as the Windows 2000 site into which it has been installed.

The Exchange Conference Locator service (Xconfloc.exe) determines which conferencing zone the service is a member of and each of the conference resources that are associated with this specific zone. If Conferencing resource mailboxes reside on another Exchange 2000 server, you must also install this service on that Exchange 2000 server.

This issue may occur because the Microsoft Exchange Conference Locator service that is installed on the Exchange 2000 server cannot locate its CMS server if that CMS server is located in a different Windows 2000 site.
