Proxy 2.0 Does Not Send Updated Cache Data to the Client (322604)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0

This article was previously published under Q322604

SYMPTOMS

Proxy 2.0 sends an HTTP 304 ("Not modified") response back to a client that is requesting an update of a Web page if all of the following conditions exist:
  • The "If-modified-since" time is older than the cache copy.
  • The cache copy is expired.
  • The data has not been modified since the "If-modified-since" time of the cache copy.
In the first criterion, the client should receive the cache copy because it is a newer version. However, the proxy server does not send that copy.
