SMS: Deleting a Collection from a Parent Site Deletes the Collection's Replicated Collections on All Child Sites (322488)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003
This article was previously published under Q322488 SYMPTOMSWhen you delete a collection from a parent site, the collection's replicated collections are also deleted on child sites.CAUSEThis behavior occurs because Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) synchronizes the collections that are created on a parent site with all the child sites. If you delete a collection on a parent site, the collection's replicated collections are removed from child sites when the next synchronization occurs.
If the parent site is the central site in the site hierarchy, the deleted collection is eventually removed from the whole site hierarchy.
Note When you delete a collection in the SMS Administrator console, the Delete Collection Wizard helps you to decide whether it is appropriate to delete the collection. The wizard describes the results of deleting the collection. However, the wizard does not mention the affect on child sites.STATUS This behavior is by design.
