OL2002: The Public Folder Is Deleted When You Delete a Shortcut to a Public Folder from Your Favorites Folder (322372)

This article was previously published under Q322372 SYMPTOMS When you delete a shortcut to a public folder from your
Favorites folder in Outlook 2000, the public folder may also be deleted.
CAUSE When you initially add a shortcut to a public folder in
your Favorites in Outlook 2002, Outlook 2002 registers the shortcut for the
original folder to the Favorites folder. When you add the same public folder to
your Favorites again, Outlook 2002 may register the path to the original
folder, which Outlook 2002 creates as a cache object. As a result, Outlook 2002
deletes the original public folder itself and the shortcut. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest
service pack for Microsoft Office XP. For additional information, click the
