SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project Web Access, if you try to accept updates or transfer progress from Microsoft Project Server 2002 to Microsoft Project 2002 (both Professional Edition and Standard Edition), and Microsoft Project 2002 is not running, you are prompted to log on in Enterprise mode, even if the project was created in Workgroup mode (offline).

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, open Microsoft Project 2002 (Professional or Standard Edition) in Workgroup mode before you accept updates from Microsoft Project Web Access.

NOTE: Even if you log on to Microsoft Project Web Access in Enterprise mode, you can still open and save Workgroup projects.

MORE INFORMATION

Microsoft Project Server 2002 serves as the technology platform for workgroup environments when used with Microsoft Project 2002 Standard Edition and for enterprise environments when used with Microsoft Project 2002 Professional Edition. Through its Microsoft Project Web Access interface, Microsoft Project Server 2002 makes it easy for team members and stakeholders to collaborate and access project information by using only a Web browser. Microsoft Project Server 2002 also provides the security, scalability, and flexibility to grow with a company's business processes and systems as project and resource management demands increase.

When Microsoft Project Server 2002 is paired with Microsoft Project 2002 Standard Edition, the resulting feature set is referred to as Workgroup mode. When Microsoft Project Server 2002 is paired with Microsoft Project 2002 Professional Edition, it is called Enterprise mode.

You can work offline in Workgroup mode in Microsoft Project 2002 Professional Edition, and specify your information on the Collaborate tab (on the Tools menu, click Options).
