WD2002: Word Stops Responding If You Use Spelling Checker on Swedish Text (322229)

SYMPTOMS

If you use the spelling checker on Swedish text, Word stops responding (crashes), and you receive an error message similar to the following:
Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the text contains an opening parenthesis followed by a blank space and a paragraph mark.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Word 2002 Public Update that contains this hotfix.
