Meeting is removed from the Calendar if you delete a meeting request from the Inbox by using OWA (322193)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Outlook 2002

This article was previously published under Q322193

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) to delete a meeting request from the Inbox, OWA removes the meeting from the Calendar.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you used Outlook to accept the meeting request. When you use Outlook to open a meeting request in the Inbox, and then click Accept to accept the meeting, Outlook places the meeting on the Calendar and removes the meeting request from the Inbox. However, if you right-click the tentative meeting in the Calendar, and then click Accept to accept the meeting request, Outlook does not remove the meeting request from the Inbox. After you accept the meeting request by using this method, if you use OWA to delete this meeting request from the Inbox, OWA also removes the meeting from the Calendar and the data is lost.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods:
  • Method 1
Use Outlook to delete the meeting request from the Inbox. When you do so, the meeting is not removed from the Calendar.
  • Method 2
Accept the meeting by using the Inbox meeting request in Outlook.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

This problem does not exist in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
