"Unexpectedly quit, error type 1" error message when you use Excel X for Mac (322061)

In Excel X for Mac, when you try to type text, perform a copy-and-paste operation, or drag text, Excel may quit unexpectedly, and you may receive the following error message:
Unexpectedly quit, error type 1
This problem may occur if the Excel Setting (10) file is corrupted.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, follow the steps in method 1. If that does not resolve the problem, use method 2.
Method 1: Remove the Excel Setting (10) File- From the Finder, open the following folder:
drive: Users: User name: Library: Preferences: Microsoft
- Drag the Excel Settings (10) file to the desktop near the Trash.
- Restart Excel X and repeat the behavior that caused the problem.
If this does not resolve the issue, use method 2.
Method 2: Remove and Then Reinstall Office X- Remove Office v. X from Your Computer by using the Remove Office Tool.
- Reinstall Office v. X.
