WD2001: Word Does Not Open the Document When You Double-Click It (322013)

SYMPTOMS

When you double-click a Word document to open it in Word, you may receive the following message:

Translating WD98 document to Microsoft Word document.

However, Word does not open the document.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

  1. On the Apple menu, point to Control Panels, and then click File Exchange.
  2. Click the File Translation tab, and then click to clear the Translate documents automatically check box.
  3. Close the File Exchange control panel, and then restart your computer.

    While the computer is restarting, press and hold down the OPTION and APPLE keys to rebuild the desktop.
