ADSI with the OLE DB Provider May Leak Memory If You Use SQL Syntax (321928)

This article was previously published under Q321928 SYMPTOMS A program or script that uses the OLE DB provider for ADSI (that is, the ADODB.Connection.Provider is ADSDsOObject) may leak around 100
bytes when you run a command in SQL dialect. The size of the leak depends on
the text in the SQL command. CAUSE A buffer that is used to create tokens for the SQL command

WORKAROUND To work around this behavior, use Lightweight Directory
Access Protocol (LDAP) syntax. STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
