Databases Become Dismounted Because of Lack of Disk Space (321825)

dismounted, and you may not be able to mount them again. If you examine the
available disk space, you may find that the hard disk is almost full, and that
the Application log contains some or all of the entries that follow:

http://search.support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1. CAUSE This issue may occur if hackers use your Exchange server to
relay unsolicited e-mail messages (spam). As a result, the Badmail folder fills
up with messages that your server cannot handle. The messages cannot be sent
back, because the return addresses are not valid (spoofed). RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- Stop the SMTP service. To do so, follow these steps:
- In Computer Management, double-click the Services and Applications branch, and then click Services.
- In the right pane, right-click Simple Mail
Transport Protocol (SMTP), and then click Stop on the shortcut menu.
- Delete all messages from the Badmail folder. By default,
the Badmail folder is located in the Exchsrvr\Mailroot\vsi 1 folder.
- Start Exchange System Manager, locate the server that you
suspect is being used to relay the junk e-mail, and then double-click Protocols.
- Double-click the SMTP node, right-click the virtual SMTP
server, and then click Properties.
- Configure Exchange Server so that it relays only SMTP mail
that originates from your network and from other trusted computers. To do this,
follow these steps:
- Click the Access tab, and then click Relay.
- Click to select the Allow all computers which
successfully authenticate to relay, regardless of the list above check
box. This option makes it possible for SMTP mail from your internal network to
be relayed through the virtual server.
- Click to select the Only the list
below check box. The list that follows is frequently left empty,
except in situations when you want to allow computers external to your network
to be able to relay SMTP mail through the server. If you do want to allow
computers external to your network to be able to relay SMTP mail through the
server, click Add, and then configure the correct IP, IP range, or domain
name.
- In the Relay Restrictions dialog box, click OK.
- To mount databases, follow these steps:
- Double-click each Storage Group under your
server.
- Right-click the Store that is dismounted, and then
click Mount Store on the shortcut menu.
- Start the SMTP service.
